What the feeds contain
The feeds are public records about businesses. A row names a business, where it is, and a dated event on a public register: a notice filed against an employer, a licence whose insurance policy is expiring, an application for a new licence. Each feed page lists the exact columns it carries.
The feeds contain business entities only. Public Record Feeds does not sell information about individuals. Before any file is built, rows and columns that name a person are removed in code:
- Sole owner and individual licensees are dropped, not exported.
- Plaintiff names and attorney names from the PAGA source are not stored and not sent.
- Business names that read as a person's name are removed from exports by a name check, which is deliberately blunt and removes some real companies too.
- A phone number is exported only when it belongs to a business, not to a person.
- Email addresses and phone numbers are blanked in every column except the business phone column, whichever column they turned up in.
The law firm named on a filing is exported as the source publishes it. Where that field holds a person's name, an email address, or a self-represented filer, we blank it.
Where the records come from
- PAGA notices: California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, PAGA case search.
- Contractor workers' comp renewals: California Contractors State License Board, public data portal.
- ABC licence applications: California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, new applications report.
The records are published by those agencies. Public Record Feeds collects them, filters them, cuts them by geography and delivers them on a schedule. Nothing is bought from a data broker and nothing is scraped from a private source.
What is stored about customers
- An email address, so the feed can be delivered.
- A Stripe customer id and a Stripe subscription id, so a subscription can be matched to a delivery and cancelled when it ends.
- A record of each delivery: which subscription, which period, how many rows, and whether it was sent.
Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach this site. Payment and billing are subject to Stripe's own privacy policy.
Tracking
The site counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify visitors. There is no advertising pixel and no tracking cookie. The emails carry no tracking pixel and no click tracking. Nothing here sets a cookie, so there is no cookie banner to click.
Keeping and deleting data
An unsubscribe link is in every email and stops delivery straight away. Cancelling the subscription in the billing portal stops both the billing and the delivery. To have the email address and the delivery records deleted, ask and it is done.
